A fresh water lake, recognized by its green water.

Finding a source of fresh water is essential to your long terms survival. One of the best ways to get a hold of fresh water is to find a well in one of the many towns and villages scattered around the islands and pump it out. The empty water bottle in your inventory will become full

. To do this you will need to have an empty water bottle

in your inventory. Then approach a water pump and open your inventory by pressing the G key

on your keyboard. Right click the empty water bottle and select 'Fill Water'.

It is highly recommended that you always boil your water before drinking it as even ground water my be contaminated with bacteria that can cause you to become ill and die. Click here to learn how to boil water. Click here to learn about illnesses and poisoning in the game.

Lakes

Alternatively you can also get water from lakes, however it is not recommended to drink still water as there is a high chance you will fall ill. To prevent yourself from falling ill is highly recommended that you boil your water. Click here to learn how to boil water. Click here to learn about illnesses and poisoning in the game.

To obtain water from a lake you will need to have an empty water bottle

Note
You can only fill up your water bottle at fresh water lakes or ponds, not salty water lakes such as lake Umag in Sabina. You can recognize fresh water lakes and ponds by their greenish colour.
