Healing Wounds & Broken Bones

Healing wounds
You will become wounded often, either as a result of getting hit by zombies or shot by other players. When you become wounded you will begin loosing blood and your blood level icon will have a + sign on it. You need to stop the bleeding as soon as you can by bandaging yourself before you loose more blood or you will eventually die. You can restore your blood level by eating or with a blood transfusion. Keep in mind that you can also contract an infection when you get wounded, click here to read about infections.
There are a number of ways in which you can bandage yourself. Either using pieces of cloth which you can cut off from zombies clothes, but which have their down sides or using sterile bandages.
Cloths
Cloths
are the easiest way to bandage yourself quickly and are easy to make - you can make them from dead zombies clothes. To do that, kill a zombie, then approach the body and select 'Cut Cloths' from the action menu. You will also need to have a hunting knife in your tool belt
.
After doing that a cloth
will appear in your inventory. Keep in mind that you may not always be successful in obtaining cloths from zombies, sometimes their clothes may be too ripped to use.
After obtaining а cloth you can bandage yourself with it by opening your inventory, right-clicking on it and selecting 'Bandage Wound'.
Avoiding Infections
Although you can bandage yourself with a cloth alone it isn't the best thing to do unless its an emergency as there is a high chance of you contracting an infection which can eventually lead to your death. Click here to find out more about infections.
To prevent infections you should always keep a bottle of antiseptics in your inventory, either Hydrogen Peroxide
or a bottle of vodka
. Just keeping one of the antiseptics in your inventory when bandaging yourself is enough, but keep in mind that every time you bandage yourself some of the antiseptic will be used and eventually it will run out and be removed from your inventory so keeping an extra bottle in your backpack is always a good idea. You can see how much you have left using the green bar on the right side of the icon, with a full green bar meaning the bottle is full
and a smaller bar
that it is becoming emptier.
Bandaging Others
You can also bandage your wounded friends, just approach them with the necessary items in your inventory and select 'Bandage Wounds (Cloth)' or 'Bandage Wounds (Bandage)' if you want to use a bandage which we will discuss next. Make sure to also have some antiseptics in your inventory when you bandage others so they don't contract an infection.
Bandages
You can also use bandages
to bandage yourself which are very sterile meaning it will be very unlikely that you will contract an infection and you will not need to have any antiseptics in your inventory when you use them.
To use a bandage, right-click on the bandage and select 'Bandage Wounds', you can also bandage others with them too.
You can also craft bandages if you run out of them click here to find out how.
Double and tipple Bandages
You can also craft double
and triple bandages
as a medic, click here to learn more. Double and triple bandages are very useful as you have limited space in your inventory and these bandages only take up one slot but can be used up to 3 times. So you will double or tipple your bandage amount by using them instead of normal bandages. Click here to learn how to craft double/triple bandages.
Painkillers
Often when you get wounded or shot you will be in shock and pain which will cause your hands to shake making aiming weapons difficult, poor vision, poor hearing and cause you to scream which can give your position away to others. To calm yourself down and relive the pain use a box of painkillers
.
You can also administer painkillers to other players by approaching them and selecting 'Give Painkillers' from the action menu.
Healing broken bones
You may break a bone either by getting shot, falling from somewhere, getting run over or even hit by a zombie. When you break a bone you will not be able to walk, only crawl which will make you very vulnerable.
Broken bones are indicated by this icon on the right hand side of the screen.
Morphine
A temporary solution is to inject yourself with morphine
which will give you some time to run to a safe location where you can craft a splint and permanently fix your leg.
To inject yourself with morphine, right-click on its icon in your inventory and select 'Take Morphine'.
After taking the morphine a small sand clock will appear beside the broken bone icon showing you how much time you have until its effectiveness runs out .
Levels Of Morphine
Anyone can use morphine, however there are 3 levels of morphine that only a medic can craft depending on their level. Each level of morphine gives you a longer amount of time that you can run with a broken leg. The ordinary morphine that anyone can find lying around will give you about 15 minutes
, however the morphines that medics can craft can give you up to 40 minutes.
To obtain the other 3 morphine levels you will need to become a medic. Click here to learn about medic skills. Click here to lean about crafting morphine.

Leg Splints
To heal broken bones permanently you will need to craft a splint and apply it. There are two types of splints, a home made splint
which will do the job but will cause a lot of blood loss and a medical splint
that only medics can craft which will do the job with minimum blood loss.
