Harvesting Wood
To start a fire you first need to harvest some wood. To do that you will first need to find a hatchet. Once you have found a hatchet go in to a forest, open your gear menu by pressing the G button on your keyboard and place the hatchet in your tool belt by right clicking it and selecting 'Add to tool belt'. The hatchet must be in your tool belt in order to harvest wood not in weapon mode.
Once in your tool belt, right click the hatchet again and select 'Harvest Wood'.
Your player will being harvesting wood. Your player will automatically harvest 15 wood piles, however to start a fire you only need one, hence you can stop harvesting wood by pressing the W key on your keyboard. Wood piles can not only be used to start fires but for other things such as building too. Click here to find out more.
Some wood piles will have now appeared on the ground beside your player. Put them in your inventory.
Starting a Fire
To start a fire you will need to have 1 wood pile and 1 box of safety matches
in your tool belt. You can find safety matches lying around in various buildings on the island.
Open your gear menu by pressing the G button on your keyboard, right-click the match box and select 'Make Fireplace'. Your player will now build a fire place. After it has been built, go to it and select 'Light Fire' to light it or 'Put out fire' to put it out.

You do not need matches to light an already built fireplace, you only need them to build it. |
